339711 2005-03-30 23:23:00 Hi,

Has anyone run 2 soundcards in 1 PC? If so, is there anything I should know before I look to do this. Reason i want to do this is I want to be able run two separate outputs from a wicked DJ program I have that supports it, one say to drive the left turntable and the other the right or one to drive the headphones and the other to drive both turntables.

In theory I cant see any issues doing this, just wanna make sure before i go out and buy another soundcard?

any advice much appreciated.

339712 2005-03-30 23:48:00 A DJ i know runs dual output streams from his Soundblaster live,One into his headphones and the other into the speakers..... Metla (12)
339713 2005-03-30 23:54:00 any ideas how that is possible on a single card? as far as i can see, i can only assign an output to the card, not to a port (headphone, line-out) on the card. tvgts (5773)
339714 2005-03-30 23:56:00 Shouldn't be a problem at all. I used a program called Virtual Turntables a couple of years back when I was spinning tunes. Only piece of advice I can give you is make sure you use your best quality sound card for the main output and the lower quality one for your headphones. Other than that you should be sweet.

cheers

339715 2005-03-31 00:03:00 cheers, cant see much of an issue with it myself. Tried Virtual turntables along with a dozen others before settling on Virtual DJ, probably the closest Ive found to the real thing yet nowhere near the cost! tvgts (5773)

No idea, I know his card has multiple outputs, and that he used DJ software to create the 2 streams,However, to be on the safeside he purchased a new SB live off me as his is one of the first.....and was never able to get the dual outpurs working, ended up going back to his old card.

Though I'm sure if he read the manual he could have figured it out.....

339717 2005-03-31 01:12:00 You could get a genius sound card from harvey norman. The 4.1 card supports two outputs through the c-media software that runs the card. There is an option to use the normal green out for the speakers and the black rear audio port as standard out for your headphones. apparition (3207)
339718 2005-03-31 03:46:00 I was doing that for a short while....

Had the Onboard sound used as the SECONDARY output. I was running WinXP on the PC at the time.
I was basically using WinAmp at the time, along with a crossfader plugin. This was output'ing specifically to the DEFAULT (But still specified in Winamp) SB!Live card.

I then used the "Switch User" (make sure you have windows sounds disabled) and logged in as another user. Fired up WinAmp and specified the onboard sound. I was then able to listen to tracks before playing them :)

Worked a treat when I was nearing the end and queued up 30 mins of playlist and then starting playing Unreal Tournament!
