339157 2005-03-29 06:31:00 I've tried 3 diffrent cd drive but all of them fail.

The cd drive is detected on startup and then when the sytem goes to load windows, it just stays loading, almost frozen. It does run in safe mode however.

I'm using windows Me and i'm tryign to upgrade to xp but i don't think i can without a cd drive!!

Within windows, or booting from the XP cd??

And how fast is your computer? How much memory is in it?

None of these questions has any bearing on why the CD drive is preventing startup .

Does it boot into ME without the cd in the drive?

well they might do - it depends how far along it gets before it freezes.
Like past where it asks about the drive/partition XP will be getting installed on or even before it actually starts to do something?

(system goes to load windows...)?? Load it or install it?
