340026 2005-03-31 21:26:00 Hi i'm new here and i'll appreciate any help at all. Now to the point, about a month ago one day i switch my pc on and the connection was lost, i talked to the people that provided my broadband and tried system restore and everything but all that caused the problem was the wireless router (because i have another computer in the next room as well), so i disconnected the router and plugged the cable from the modem straight to the computer. Since then my internet connection has suffered :( ! I am incapable of uploading, accessing pages that needs a username and password on the first try (took about 6 tries just to post this! and can practically never check my e-mails), and when i type something on msn messanger half the time the reciever can't see what I'm typing (and they can't recieve any files from me either). Anyone know what is wrong with my computer? When i plug back in my router the problems still exist although it works (but only for a few days), i tried system restore, scanning for viruses and spyware and downloading a different web browser still nothing. If someone can help me in anyway I'll greatly appreciate it! matchstick (7757)
340027 2005-04-01 03:58:00 Please provide model of router and modem. What IP addresses you using or is it set to automatically get the IP address? Did you use wireless on your computer to connect to the wireless router or cable. If cable was it the same cable you are using now for the modem. Check out the other posts relating to networking and the FAQ of this site. Sounds to me you could have faulty cable/ network setup / NICs or a combination of factors. More info required on your complete setup.
