| 339995 | 2005-03-31 21:04:00 | Two questions about Pegasus Mail: 1. Is there a way to export the address book(s) in Pegasus Mail so that all addresses are shown as one document, e.g. a html or doc file? I would like a record of all email addresses so that I can post this on the web using a virtual email address (a good way to access email addresses while away from home). 2. Have any of you Pegasus Mail users joined a help group / forum? I seem to recall that (when first intalling PMail) there is a message from David Harris (PMail creator) about getting help. Thanks. BTW, I have used PMail for about 9 years and think it is the best email platform. :) |

You can export the address book as a tabbed separated text file, which you could import into something like excel and only leave the email address column You open the address book and use the Address book menu at the top (which changes from the normal options). 2. The message from the author is as follows: We have gone to great lengths to produce a program that is easy to install and use, but inevitably sometimes things won't work. If you have problems with Pegasus Mail, your first port of call should be the "Troubleshooting" section on the Pegasus Mail "Help" menu: this topic covers the most common problems people encounter when using the system. If you can't find a solution there, send a mail message (perhaps using your Web Browser, if you can't do it with Pegasus Mail) to support@pmail.gen.nz - this will retrieve an automatic reply pointing you to various publicly-available sources of assistance. Other sources of information include: * The Pegasus Mail home page, http://www.pmail.com * FAQs (Frequently-Asked Question lists), which are available automatically by sending any message to mailto:faq@pmail.gen.nz * The Pegasus Mail mailing lists - information is available on these by sending any message to mailto:faq-usergroups@pmail.gen.nz. I absolutely hate Pegasus mail though. It is full of wierd files, annoying and confusing defaults (and odd terminology). It also seems to perform poorly. Even Eudora is (and looks) better (and that is saying something). |

| 339998 | 2005-03-31 21:54:00 | I have never used Pegasus Mail, but if you can export your address book to CSV format or use this (www.joshie.com) to convert to outlook express address book then import them with a Gmail account. That would be the perferred way, and you wouldnt be exposing all your mates email details on the web. |

You can export the address book Really? How? I cannot see any way to do this. Re: going to the PMail web site and using the Help file: have gone down these paths and this is why I am asking PF1'ers - who actually use Pegasus and can give me a direct answer. My question about user groups / mailing lists - sorry, I did not explain this enough - yes, I have read the info that you have posted, but before I join yet another list and get yet more email, it would be nice to get specific and direct help from those that use Pegasus, or to get feedback on which mailing list/forum is the best. I have heard Eudora is good, but do not want to turn this thread into "Which emailer is better?!". |

I was surprised to see how many email programs that "Dawn" converts. Impressive! Will download it and give it a try but it is sad that I will actually have to install OE (a MS product :angry )in order to export the addresses as one list. Thanks Rob. You have been doubly helpful today. :) BTW, I misinterpreted your original post so did not bother to surf over to the site; I thought I first had to export from Pegasus. |

| 340003 | 2005-04-01 22:57:00 | Steve To export your adress book you first need to open it then you will get a menu item "Addressbok" on the main Pegesus window. You will find the import and export functions in there. This is for versions 4.12a and lower. As far converting for import into gmail Ive never tried it. |
