341011 2005-04-03 02:20:00 According to The Inquirer, 'Microsoft has released the final version of Windows XP 64 to manufacturing, meaning that those with machines that have 64-32 bit processors in from AMD and latterly Intel can now see what the extra addressing brings to the party.'"

Expect 10 weeks to shipping.

341013 2005-04-03 02:32:00 As a side note to that, is it worth rushing out and getting at the moment.
The reason for this question comes from this...
Quoted from PC World magazine March 2005 review of XP 64 bit
'In my informal tests, however, a number of applications wouldn't install, including several programmes from Microsoft. Some of them were applications that historically have been written for specific versions of Windows such as Powertoys for Windows XP' .... 'and most major antivirus and security packages'
Myth (110)
341014 2005-04-03 02:41:00 Considering I've had XP for a whole 3 months now - up from my 98 I don't think I care.
And the only reason I changed was because my new hardware had no drivers for 98. (dammit)
Much rather wait for others to be the guinea pigs.
And wait until theres been a whole lot of posts on tweaking it etc. Not to mention getting the apps and drivers hassles sorted.
