340899 2005-04-03 01:23:00 hey all

im using Azureus, i read another post on thie forum about someone having a NAT problem and turning off UPnp helped. but i have checked windowns firewall and the box is not checked.

basically, when i try to run azureus on my pc (connects to a host computer on a network via ethernet and crossover, both pc's on win xp proffesional) i always get a yellow sad face for my download speed, when i hover my curser over the face it says i may possibly have a NAT problem. does anyone know what may be causing this?

thanx

btw the tick box in the firewall only lets upnp through the firewall. it dosn't turn upnp off.

also what OS dos the host pc use? and what firewall does it use?

340901 2005-04-03 02:00:00 If they are both on the same network (which I assume from the reference to a crossover cable) NAT shouldn't come into it. Each computers should have it's own, known local (non-routable) IP address, either fixed or assigned by DHCP.

NAT just maps calls from outside the LAN to those private internal IP addresses.

340902 2005-04-03 02:07:00 graham.....azureus is a file sharing app eg like kazaa, winMX etc. tweak'e (69)
340903 2005-04-03 02:33:00 However the "host computer on a network" is being connected to "my computer" with a crossover cable? Is this P2P on a LAN? I'd use FTP. ;) Graham L (2)

errr.... how do i find out?

(both pc's are on winxp, and i just used the network setup wizard to make the network, setting ti to default i guess)

340905 2005-04-03 21:34:00 Dont use the network wizard for starters.

Put the ips in MANUALLY under each LAN / properties / TCP/IP. By using Use the following ip address.

340907 2005-04-04 06:00:00 If what you want to do is move files between 2 computers in one location, you don't need a filesharing programme which is meant to work on the Internet . ;)

The standard Microsoft software will let you share files . The "Network Neighbourhood"
might be what you want .

Thjis azureus is trying to go out to the Internet then back again . Because you're not set up for that, it's getting confused, because your machines have local addresses which don't work on the Internet without NAT (T for translation) .

Scrap it .

340908 2005-04-04 10:33:00 err... ok slightly confused, im not trying to move a file from one computer to another, im downloading from the net using azureus (file sharing), but as i am not the host on the network i guess something , some setting is making me have a slow transfer rate, and it said it MIGHT be a NAT error or something, i just wanna know what settings to switch, or how to have the most effective network etc.
