340666 2005-04-02 06:22:00 I have been using a TV capture card for a while to watch and record video. However, I am less than satisfied with the quality of the available codecs I have to record the TV without using a really high bit-rate.

The software I have can handle avi, mpeg, and wmv codecs, but when I try and choose mpeg it says "error no mpeg2 filters found"

So, my question is:
Does anyone know of a really good mpeg2 encoder filter that I can use with my existing software?

I have tried to download trial versions of software that can do mpeg2 recording, but I was unable to use their codecs with my existing software, and as I have already bought the software I have (and like it) I don't want to buy more unless I can use the codecs with the app I have...

.......
I am running Windows XP Pro SP1,
with a Dynalink MagicTView 99 capture card, and I am using flyDS as the recording/viewing software.

Thanks,
Craig.

340668 2005-04-02 09:58:00 As my post says above I am not currently able to record mpeg2. However, I do have powerDVD. craig.b (6571)
340669 2005-04-02 10:16:00 NeroVision is a good video capture/editing/burning program, and you can get all the MPEG plugins you want for it. Agent_24 (57)
340670 2005-04-03 00:35:00 My old TV card application, FlyTV, wouldn't detect any codec's that were installed after it. To get it to use a new codec, I had to uninstall the TV app, then reinstall it. You could give that a try.
Also have a look here (www.tv-cards.com) for free TV/PVR programs

340671 2005-04-03 01:00:00 Maybe if I get a program that can do mpeg2 encoding, does anyone know if it is possible to regester the codecs with windows so that any program can use them?

Cheers,
Craig.
