340595 2005-04-02 05:50:00 When installing a new motherboard, and connecting the wires from the case, which lead is the positive and neutral. There is an arrow on one of the leads, is that one the neutral, or positve? I can't seem to find that one in the manual.
Thank you

340596 2005-04-02 06:02:00 If you're talking about the LED's for the front of the case, it the LED doesnt light up, when u put the wires on the mobo connection, turn it around, then u know it's connected the right way.

The LED should light up. For the power, and once the hdd has been accessed.

340597 2005-04-02 06:06:00 I'm pretty certain the polarity doesn't matter if you only using 2 wires.
Same applies with the LEDs.

340598 2005-04-02 06:07:00 what about for the speaker?
I kow these are stupid questions, but, I've always.
The speaker wire also has the arrow

340599 2005-04-02 06:15:00 Well no, the right way round does matter with the LED's .

Otherwise the LED's wont light up, when theyre meant to .

Umm the speaker connection maybe 4 pins on the motherboard . On mine the red wire from the speaker goes to the +5v on the connection where the speaker goes .

The speaker in the case, only beeps anyway when u boot up, to let u know if everything is alright .

340600 2005-04-02 06:32:00 I think you'll find that the "arrow" is actually a "ground" symbol, which looks like an arrow head pointing downwards but is actually drawn with horizontal lines. This is the negative or ground connection and the green or black wire from your LEDs and speaker should go to this pin. When installing any new equipment it is good policy to read the manual very carefully, it can save you a fortune. andy (473)
340601 2005-04-02 06:41:00 I dont think it matters, if u put the LED and speaker connection around the wrong way .

It wont kill it or anything . As it says in the manuals for these, if it doesnt work, turn it around for the LED connection .

The only thing you may kill is the ram by static, if youre not careful . Or the CPU maybe if u bend a pin . Or forget to change the power to 230v or something, on the power supply, before u connect the PS to the mobo .

It doesn't matter - it will only mean that the speaker or LED or reset switch won't work, but it won't screw up the mobo or the CPU

340603 2005-04-02 06:49:00 On some systems it does . For the hdd LED .

One way the LED wont light up, the other way it will .

Maybe not for the speaker connection . I didnt say either would stuff the mobo or CPU, in the first place .

340604 2005-04-02 08:38:00 Your motherboard manual will have a diagram showing where you connect all these case leads. pctek (84)
