341028 2005-04-03 03:18:00 Have been using this Router for 3 months but I'm now unable to connect to the Internet.

Unusual lights showing: PWR , DIAG, USB, DSL are ON. LAN is OFF

It is connected to the Ethernet and I am not using the USB at all. Strangely, the DSL light is always ON even it is disconnected from the ADSL line. The LAN light is not ON although it IS connected to the computer's NIC. The DIAG and USB lights are always ON.

Can't ping the router's IP address 192.168.1.1

Tried to reset it (by using a pin to push in the tiny hole at the back.) but it doesn't help.

Any ideas?

341029 2005-04-03 06:57:00 Can I declare that this RTA220 is dead?

If I were to send it back for repair (still under warranty); any idea where is their service centre?

How long do they normally take to get it fixed? Has anyone got any experience in this?

Cheers

I have a feeling the agents are out in Albany somewhere, but usually you would have to take the modem back where you bought it.

Has anyone got any experience in this? You need to phone the Dynalink support number first, then they will direct you to fill out a "New Zealand Return Merchandise Form" which can be downloaded from the support section of their website which is returned with your modem.

When I made enquiries about this process last year, I was told that if I couriered the modem to them overnight, they would look at/fix it and return it by overnight courier that same day or next. Looking like about a 2-3 day turnaround. I didn't need to send it to them in the end as doing a hard reset fixed my issue at the time.

When you tried the reset button, did you depress the reset button long enough that all the lights lit up (about 10 seconds??) and then released it?

What did you use to depress the reset button and how hard do I have to depress it?

I used a tooth-pick to depress the button and I didn't really 'feel' anything at all . Do you have to depress the button really hard?

341033 2005-04-03 10:10:00 I actually unfolded a paperclip and used that. Just push it in firmly (don't use force) and hold it like that for about 10 secs or more until all the lights start flashing and then release it. Jen (38)

Last time I took one back in for a repair (manufacturing fault) it was done in Palmerston North but that was some years back.

341035 2005-04-03 22:06:00 Thanks, Jen.

Tried it but doesn't work. Will phone their helpdesk later this morning.

By the way, which is the cheapest Courier service available in Auckland?

Hi there,
They have an office in Albany (224b Bush Road), and you can send it directly to them there. Make sure to put a return address in if couriering.
I have sent a faulty unit in to them before, and it takes 1 day to get a replacement. I found their RA service far better than any other supplier.
