| 340838 | 2005-04-02 17:01:00 | I recently pieced together another PC, and installed Linspire on it. Now, the first couple times I plugged in my USB Thumbdrive, nothing happened. Then, and icon appeared on my desktop, and I was able to double click it getting into the USB drive, and copy the files I needed. But, after restarting, now, instead of the previous, a similar, but different icon comes up, with the the title "USB Flash Drive". When I try to open this, it opens a small window which says "Could not open the disk, Please (re)insert media and try again". Not only have I done this multiple times and retried with the same results, I have had no problems with this thumbdrive on any of my WinXP machines, and would like to know if anybody out there has a solution. It'd help a lot. | tycho867 (7780) | ||

| 340840 | 2005-04-03 00:17:00 | linspire aka lindows, had to change their name because microsoft won a copyright case on the grounds that lindows as a name was to close to windows. It is Linux Distro designed to make things easy for the user it hides most of the linux cmd line, it is xp like. I have never had a chance to have to explorer the inner depths of this OS so maybe one the many experanced linux users will see this post. |

Trying plugging in your USB Thumbdrive and then looking at the final lines of the output from dmesg (enter that command into a terminal/console window), to see if it was detected by the system. |
