340401 2005-04-01 15:34:00 I'm running Trilian basic 3.1 (build1.2.1) on Win Xp Home, When using AIM in trillian I am unable to send and receive files to aim buddies. I have searched the Trillian forums and found a few suggestions that it may be a port issue. I have zonealarm running but am pretty sure this isn't the probaly as I am able to send files through msn messenger problem free.

Can anyone offer any help or suggestions on how to fix this problem. I love trillian and am not too keen on installing AOL AIM just to be able to send/receive files when everything else in Trillian suits me fine.

Any help is as always greatly appreciated.

Mantis.

340402 2005-04-01 16:08:00 I don't use Trillion, or MSN for that matter but, don't presuppose that the firewall or your OS will react to different programmes in the same way. You have to make rules, configure things. Look at the ZA logs, look at OS/system logs. Murray P (44)
340403 2005-04-01 23:03:00 It will be your firewall. I had problems transferring files with MSN and ICQ not long ago which was resolved by fiddling with my firewall. I don't use ZoneAlarm though, so I can't advise what to do with it.

Don't forget that the Windows firewall will also need to be looked at.

340404 2005-04-02 03:42:00 Thank you for your suggestions.

I have given Trillian full permission to act as a server and general internet access through Zonealarm. Windows firewall is disabled.

I can send files through the Trillian MSN component with success, so therefore I am thinking it is not a firewall problem, rather a port setting for the AIM component in Trillian.

Is there any knowledgable Trillian users that could help..... Susan B???

Thanks again everyone.

340405 2005-04-02 03:56:00 Does your Windows have any service packs installed, eg SP2? I would enable the Windows firewall and disable ZA completely, reboot then see what happens . That would eliminate ZA as being the problem but don't go online without any firewall at all .

I have SP2 installed and have set it to give Trillian permission and I *think* my problems were solved after that . I don't remember whether it worked with SP1 but I don't think it did .

My issues were with ICQ by the way, I don't use AIM but they are closely related . Also, I am using Trillian Pro so that may make a difference as well .
