I know NOTHING about thaese thing other than I have 256 meg of DDR 333 ram, My friends son gave me a stick of SIEMENS SDRam .. 4M x 64 SDRAM .. PC66-222-910 ... Probably NOT enough details BUT if anyone can let me know if I can (TRY  ) to use it I would be grateful .

341233 2005-04-03 16:15:00 Hey gandalf,

Depending on the model of your motherboard and whether it can accept both DDR and SDRAM, but I think you can only have one or the other, not sure, never had a board that did both, but they did make them.

The safest gaurantee would be no, the slots that the DDR RAM slide into are much longer than these SDRAM chips. DDR is the newer type of RAM and safest bet for compatibility would be RAM chips that are similar to what you have which would be DDR-333, the SDRAM chips sound like PC66 which would be the slower type of the SDRAM, PC66/100/133.

Only your motherboard manual would be able to tell you, or if you provided information on your computer/motherboard model, then someone might be able to track down your motherboard information and tell you what types of RAM is acceptable on your board.

Cheers,

KK

341234 2005-04-03 17:40:00 short answer : most likely NO and even if it was possible why would you want to mix 66mhz ram with 333mhz ram it'd slow the system dramatically drcspy (146)
341235 2005-04-03 17:42:00 KAME: Thankz for the advice, I will defer to your expertise and NOT play with or install the SDram chip... had a feeling that it may be incompatible ay !! .. It seems that I have FINALLY found where to get advice on pc's, where I am (Queensland Australia)the local tech's seem to think that anyone over 21 and is NOT into games on the net, does NOT understand and therefore DOE's NOT need computers ...let alone information on them ... SO, again my thanks ... Gandalf (4584)

341237 2005-04-03 18:39:00 If you are running windows XP 256 megs of ram is not realy enough. I would suggest getting an additional 256 the same as what you already have. You will be surprised at the improvement. JJJJJ (528)
