| 341661 | 2005-04-05 07:06:00 | Like others I think it is time to... 1) Borrow, Buy some sort of backup device e.g. DVD Writer and backup the files to it (ideally without booting into your virus/worm/spyware ridden windows install). 2) Format the drive making sure to redo the master boot record. 3) Gather stuff such as Service Pack 2 and completely reinstall Windows from scratch making sure to visit Windows Update first until all patches have been applied (and with the Windows Firewall turned on). 4) At that point install one virus scanner and stuff such as Spybot, even MS Antispyware 5) Never use IE again i.e. install Firefox 6) Install normal (.i.e. not dodgy apps that may have spyware) apps and then get an image (i.e. Ghost or simliar) of your hard drive. 7) Put your other data back on from backups and reinstall other apps. 8) Keep other people off your PC... Seriously, once you have a Ghost image (or similar ) plus backups then to get back up and running should take less than half an hour. Who knows - your machine make actually be hacked. I wouldn't trust it as far as I could kick it. |

It is not really worthwhile trying to clean it up; your best course would be to take it off line and back up all your data. Then format the disk and do a clean installation of the OS. Make sure you have clean copies of all drivers used, and an uptodate antivirus / firewall (or even use the MS one). You might be able to get a friend to download such software for you and put it on a CD. Although people here are willing to help you, this thread has got to over 58 posts, and you aren't really getting anywhere. Perhaps more sleep would help. ;) |

And then go to the utilities menu select the 3,4,5,6th option (one by one). Close the browser/s. My computer / right mouse / system restore, tick the option. Turn it back on later. You're not running Windows Messenger on bootup too are you?? As this can spam as well.... OK is this supposed to happen... i run the trojan remover, and it just instantly goes to 19% in half a second after I hit "scan now" |

| 341668 | 2005-04-05 09:04:00 | Just as long as it finishes scanning . It doesnt take long to do a scan, as it scans the startup/registry entries for known trojans . Anything that might be a trojan/worm in the registry . Did it finish scanning and detect anything? Also select the utils options . . 3-4-5 and 6th . |
