341349 2005-04-04 05:17:00 350 or a 450W, but the real question is, what brand? get a good brand and you will never regret it. Prescott (11)

What AMD CPU will you be using? The faster ones require a more grunty PSU, especially the Athlon 64 3400+. Using anything less than a good 430W PSU with that one will cause problems.

341356 2005-04-04 09:47:00 As stated before when it comes to power supplies QUALITY IS BETTER THAN QUANTITY

Spend your dosh on a good quality brand PSU and then obviously get one that can supply enough power.

cheers

341357 2005-04-04 10:55:00 The single most important thing to look for in a good PSU is the Amps output on the +12v rail.
You need at least 18 amps, most good quality PSUs have around 24 amps and the very expensive ones have 30 amps or more.

If you had the choice between a 520W PSU with 18 amps on the +12v rail or a 420W with 24 amps on the +12v rail, go for the 420W.

Before you buy a PSU, pick it up and feel the weight. Low quality PSUs are very light, whilst the better quality ones are very heavy.
