342230 2007-06-14 10:18:00 I orderd a stick of ram for about $80, a couple of years back and never even received it. Couldn't get through by phone or any reply to my emails. Not worth my time to travel from Hammy to see them in person.
Definitely bitten. Never buy anything from them if you're not from Auckland!
Highly un-recommended.

342231 2007-06-14 12:40:00 I have bought on a regular basis from them as they are handy to where I am normally working - that's about the only reason I do buy there. I always call in to the shop personally, and take cash with me as they charge extra for a credit card transaction. I have to admit their sales philosophy leaves a lot to be desired and the staff there seem to change every month. Like a lot of high-volume, low profit places, they are more interested in taking your money off you than sorting out an item that has failed - but you just need to be persistent and follow through - as already mentioned it is best if you visit the store in person and sort it that way. supertrouper (6665)
342232 2007-06-15 04:15:00 But if one of your customers claimed that product you supplied was faulty would you give them another one before you knew whether it really was a genuine fault? You seem to watch the expenses too much for that ;)
No one expects the store to do more than required.

No, that's not what I was saying. I would get it from them, test it myself, and if it was faulty, give them a new one - then send the one they gave back for replacement to my supplier.

What I wouldn't do is send it to my supplier and wait for it to be returned to me before sending it back to them, as shops like Supercheap tend to do.

I'm only out the value of the item until I put it in another computer and sell it.

I believe that is a breach of the Card Company's terms and conditions or some other regulatory provision as well. You can't add a surcharge to credit card transactions.

Somebody here will know the details.

342235 2007-06-15 05:21:00 It's a bank rule. But since the banks happily slap a surcharge on cash transactions over a certain amount, who cares what they think?

Anyway, it's a good idea. Why should cash customers subsidise credit card customers?

342236 2007-06-15 05:29:00 If 'credit card surcharge' makes the card company unhappy, they just change it to a 'cash discount' which is 'already reflected in prices'. I guess it's to discourage doing what I do - always using my credit card when it doesn't cost extra, so I get the 1% cash back (which REALLY adds up). george12 (7)
342237 2007-06-15 10:11:00 there are lots computer shops out there where they make you pay extra to use credit card...also some dairies don't even let you use credit card..

but ha..this reminds me..
went to pay car insurance once
and the guy behind the desk said..sorry..we don't take credit cards
then the manager heard and came along
and said..nah we can take it .. because we're RICH! :D

..er..yea I guess car insurance people don't mind paying for credit card surcharges but a different story when computer shops are trying to make everything seem as cheap as possible

342238 2007-06-16 14:43:00 One rule of the market is that you get what you pay for - the trouble is that everyone tries to be the cheapest, and with this quality and service go out the window -
Remember "The sour taste of inferior quality and poor service lasts longer than the euphoria of a sharp price"
If you are looking for good service and a fair price you can do a lot worse than PB Technology and C & L Computers - I can recommend both, although not from recent purchases.
