2005-04-06 23:22:00 | I paid over $125 for my current mouse... Anyhow. Wireless,optical,ball,....whatever, they all die by the hammer long before the cord breaks..... Except the one I paid $125 for, When that dies it will be stuffed and mounted over the mantle..... Good idea Met,mine is an expensive one too, looking up taxidermist as we speak.

2005-04-06 23:56:00 | I have had a number of MS optical mice and a DSE one. The MS radio one, eventually died after about 18 months. I was getting tired of replacing the batteries every 3 months or so, so decided on a DSE corded one. At work, my MS corded one lasted over 2 years or more and have now another MS one. One thing to watchout for, if you have erratic movements, you need to check if yopu have any fluff in the way of the light.

2005-04-07 00:27:00 | I have to prove to my Manager the advantages of an optical over an analog. eg dpi accuracy etc. In a work environment, no advantages. For gaming, the opti is better.

2005-04-07 00:31:00 | although MS is a dirty word, they do make good mice. Sad but true. Although my new lappie came with a free Asus branded mouse which is a delight to use, and perfect for my missus' small hands.

2005-04-07 01:27:00 | Its the electromagnetic fields from these things that needs more attention... why would i want to place my hand ( or my childs hand) on top of an infra red generator ? I like my ball mouse as its low EMF... and its got a wire which is also low for EMF... cordless gear is all putting out EMF... The effects are not proberly studied as the cocktail of EMF that people experience is always changing. but its invisible and silent so don't worry :) I can clean the rollers in my mouse in about 20 seconds :) Pete

2005-04-07 04:05:00 | Its the electromagnetic fields from these things that needs more attention... why would i want to place my hand ( or my childs hand) on top of an infra red generator ?Please tell this is not a serious statement. The amount of EMR from a mouse has to be about 1% of sweet f a. If you are worried about harm, I would be more concerned about (a) the risk of OOS from too much mouse usage, (b) the risk of obesity from too much sitting in front of the screen and (c) the risk of growing up totally risk-averse and timid from constantly being told that things are going to do you harm.
