| 342816 | 2005-04-08 14:52:00 | I had been dual-booting XP and Xandros. Then I re-installed XP and now it simply loads into XP straight away. How do I get back the option to choose which OS to load? Please :help: |

| 342817 | 2005-04-08 19:51:00 | The options that i know of for OS start-up selection can be found through right click MyComputer>Advanced>Startup and Recovery>System Startup. The drop down menu for default OS is there, plus dislay list times(30secs). Not sure if this is what you needed, but hope it helps. :thumbs: |

| 342818 | 2005-04-08 21:50:00 | put the Xandros cd rom in a windows machine stop the autorun then explore the the cdrom for 1... documentation on boot recovery 2... boot floppy images and instructions on how to use them 3... did you make recovery disk when loaded Xandros if you did use these to boot Xandros. If I could remember which boot loader Xandros uses i woul give info on how to reload it (i'll do some research, watch this space) 4... last opton im not sure on this though, I think you maybe able to use the Xandros cdrom in recovery mode Basicly what you have done with the reinstall of xp is overwritten the boot sector where the linux boot loader was with the xp boot loader which does not reconise other file system beside the microsoft ones or |

Once you get back into Linux with your CD, you can rewrite GRUB to the master boot record with: grub-install /dev/hda Your GRUB config file /boot/grub/menu.lst should still be intact. |

| 342820 | 2005-04-09 12:32:00 | Xandros uses lilo boot loader, if you made a boot disc then you could reload lilo, but if you are like most other people and did not bother, 'cause during the install you didn't have a floppy handy, then the only real other option is boot off the xandros disk and reinstall, taking the option of "replacing existing xandros installation", this will leave your home folders intact, but it will rename them as user.old ( user being your user name) . | robinm (7292) | ||
| 342821 | 2005-04-10 11:45:00 | I am not at all familar with Xandros - but can't you boot to the CD and do a repair or recover or something as you can in most distributions? If you can, then the way to restore LILO is to run /sbin/lilo as root from memory. |
