342698 2005-04-08 04:20:00 Hi fellow F1ers,

I have this eye-sore when I use Firefox. All the text that is not formatted is displayed as Italics.

I have done nothing to this computer, but I feel that a friend might have done something. She is not really computer literate, so don't want to bugger her about something she would have no clue about.

Might a configuration file have been altered? I have the preferentials extension for firefox, but can not find any indication that italics is the default font or the like.

Can anyone help here?

342699 2005-04-08 07:35:00 If you use a different profile under Firefox does the problem persist?

How to Create a new profile (www.mozilla.org)

If that fixes it, then your current profile has the problem. You can copy/import your bookmarks into the new profile and then delete the old one. If creating a new profile doesn't help, then I would consider backing up your bookmarks somewhere safe and completely removing Firefox (uninstall plus delete old profile folders) and then reinstall Firefox. Just import your bookmarks once finished. You will need to download your extensions again (which is better than using old and possibly incompatible extensions).

How about doing a clean install of firefox? Or would that be a last resort?

342701 2005-04-08 08:58:00 That is what I was suggesting as a quick fix rather than trying to figure out what went wrong. Just backup your bookmarks (Bookmarks > Manage > File > Export) first and then re-import them when you have Firefox reinstalled. Make sure you delete any left over Firefox directories before reinstalling. Jen (38)
