2005-04-07 09:58:00 | Hi all I have a friend having problems with Outlook express. She can send only short e-mails. Any thing over 8kb and it disconnects and gives an error (0X800CCC0F). She can browse on IE and send e-mail though her Yahoo account but can't send through OE???? I have tried to fix this problem myself and can't. I have tried checking all settings. Have contacted both Paradise (her ISP) and the MS trouble-shooter. All of her mail account details are fine, and she can send and receive short e-mails. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Many thanks Meg

2005-04-07 10:30:00 | Increase server timeout setting in Outlook Express Go to Tools/Accounts and click on the Mail Tab Click Properties on the right Click Advanced Tab at the top Adjust the server timeout from 1 min to 2 or 3 minutes Apply and OK Also disable "hangup after sending and receiving " in Tools/Options/Connections. As well disable Outgoing mail scanning in the anti-virus program.

2005-04-07 12:14:00 | Thanks for the link Speedy Checked it out. I may have to 'reinstall or repair' OE. Looks like that could be the solution. Have a nice day Meg

2005-04-07 18:22:00 | I have also seen this or similar where a client could send 'short' emails but any with attachements would only about half send then just sit there doing nothing.......in the end we worked out, with help from the isp, that the modem was of a type that just didn't work well with that isp.......... | drcspy (146) | |

That is possible and the fact that uploads are slower than downloads anyway could point to a modem phone line issue. These problems always seem to affect OE for some reason though. You can usually get around the problem by sending messages with attachments using the ISP Webmail system. It may help also by adding a string to the modem to restrict the connection speed to give a more stable and reliable connection. |

2005-04-07 21:24:00 | No worries :) I dont think u have to disable the virus scanner for scanning incoming email. If the anti virus program youre using, has timeout protection, it shouldnt be a prob.
