2014-09-08 11:46:00 | I have several websites hosted by the same provider. The latest website will not load unless I write index.html after the URL http://www.edisonpower-electrical.co.nz (will not find the site) www.edisonpower-electrical.co.nz (will find the site) "index.html" should be automatically loaded first. Both Mail & FTP work as normal. I have checked all the settings and compared them with the settings on the other sites and can not find any reason for this situation. The Host has also checked and is none the wiser. Any help would be much appreciated.

2014-09-08 12:22:00 | Works for me too, no problem at all. I notice that the site is not responsive but other than that I went straight to it. | Webdevguy (17166) | |
2014-09-08 12:44:00 | I re-installed Chrome and all is well now. Firefox & IE9 also work. Funny thing is that the other 4 sites on the same server were working Ok. | mzee (3324) | |
2014-09-08 14:47:00 | Both work for me as well. You're right in that your browser should crawl the index.html first and load it at the http://www.edisonpower-electrical.co.nz URL call. My best guess is that it got cached bad on your old browser. | Mattheck (17287) | |
2014-09-08 23:27:00 | Signed up with Google webmaster tools? May help for finding crawl errors and visibility errors. Plus other features like search position, search queries, URL removals, etc. Note: If running two identical content websites, possibly need let the search engines know which is the main/preferred site for indexing and ranking. Known as Canonical URL's (bit.ly) (Google Results) often a tag is added and/or a redirect from one site to the other. Also prevents duplication penalties.
