1383067 2014-09-01 12:39:00 If anyone is still using WinsXP, are you having any problems with it, do you still do internet banking using XP, have you noticed anything much different since April and why did you keep it? Thanks. katharinem (3459)
1383068 2014-09-01 19:41:00 Still have once computer here on XP its still working exactly as it always has and yes SWMBO still does everything on it she always did. My office at work still has one out of four on XP sadly me and my offsider next to me are stuck with Win 8.1.1 gary67 (56)
1383069 2014-09-01 21:35:00 It's not the O/S you need to worry about, you need to:

have 1 antivirus - a good one, NOD32 is good, and at least 2 antispywares in addition to that.

Spybot, MalwareBytes, Superantispyware.

With those, you must manually update the malware definitions before scanning, they are not generally automatic on the free versions.
Scan at least once a week.

And always be careful when installing software, many by default install unwanted stuff like this, best to install in Advanced or Custom mode and read each screen, it will inform you what else will be installed - and you can untick the agreement box usually.

Keyloggers are not too common but regular checks with the above will detect anything.

1383070 2014-09-01 23:15:00 I still use XP at work and do internet banking on it, but our work network is fairly locked down and safe compared to most home PCs.

At home I have moved onto windows 8 and would not go back.

1383071 2014-09-01 23:24:00 Got one desktop here dual booting XP and Mint.

XP barely ever gets used, can't remember the last time anybody booted into it, but it still works just as well as it ever did.

Awaiting Win9 to arrive, then will upgrade.

Use XP for banking, but had to go and get ANZ to fix up their new logging on procedure.

Both wife's Win7 and this XP were having pop-ups and Snap-do crap, but seem to have gotten rid of them.

Wondering if Android cellphones have been a cause ! we both have them with WIFI (will have to watch our step in line with dirty poly tricks !!).

Use MalwareBytes, SuperAntiSpyware and Spybot almost every other day, plenty of the Pup rubbish to clean out.

Lurking.

Ps. use RegCleaner which people on here are not too keen on, it's an older program.

lurks.

I have xp on an older machine, don't use it much now. Keep it updated with Avast, Super Antispyware, Malwarebytes and run ccleaner regularly. Mainly just have it so I can help people who are still crazy (or poor enough not to have anything else) enough to use it!

1383075 2014-09-02 08:28:00 The ONLY XP we have here now is running as a server.

Had to work on one XP this afternoon :yuck: Felt so backward and lacking features.

1383076 2014-09-02 23:24:00 Most of our work PC's are XP.
They are fine for what we need. I have no issues using it for online banking, the risk is very small.

Its the users stupidity/internet habits, not the OS thats the REAL security risk.
