343498 2005-04-10 22:42:00 Yup, I read it last night .

I think people (if they have any sense), should know by now, that MS dont email windows updates (or links) to u unless u want something specifically from them . Or want their newsletter, or whatever they send to you in email .

It's kinda like people who open email attachments, from some place or person they've never heard of . Even tho there are warnings about it on the net, (not to open attachments), they never listen, They're curious, or nosy .

They WANT to know what's in that attachment . So, they open it and run it, and get a worm .

And likewise for people who don't or can't be bothered updating / patching windows . In the end they'll lose . As sooner or later, they'll get hit by that vulnerability (that the patch would have fixed), and then complain later .

343500 2005-04-11 02:05:00 You would have to be dumb enough to click on the email link to go there and download something. Speedy Gonzales (78)

343503 2005-04-11 05:21:00 Last year I was getting someone from Japan sending me a Windows update emails with a click here to update on it. I never clicked on the click here button but bounced them back to the person, as they head left there email address in the email header. One day I got an email from there ISP who said they had shut them done.

343504 2005-04-11 07:39:00 I think people (if they have any sense), should know by now, that MS dont email windows updates (or links) to u unless u want something specifically from them . Or want their newsletter, or whatever they send to you in email . Unfortunately many people are very naive and trusting and would follow that link . Lots of people getting an email from Microsoft about a new update with a link would have no idea this wasn't for real .

I think if ISP's were do a monthly email (I know Actrix does), then they can alert their customers to these sorts of scams and educate people more in internet safety .
