343456 2005-04-10 21:34:00 Hi all, while i am playing doom 3 and unreal 2004 the games crash, sometimes rebooting the whole system, sometimes just losing the game. If I am prosessing a video file (placing big stress on the system) everything is fine. I have a new NVIDIA 6600 GT card but it used to happen on my old 5600 card too. I run XP pro and the computer is AMD2800+ with 512 of ram. I have used 2 different programs to 'stress test' the system and it checks out ok. Any ideas. kiwibits (5574)
343457 2005-04-10 22:02:00 Have you tried running memtest on your system. I had the same problem with my system... random crashes, especially during games. I ran memtest and discovered one of my 512MB modules was VERY FAULTY. I have been running my system with just 512MB now and I haven't had any problems. Games run fine and no other system crashes.

cheers

343459 2005-04-10 22:30:00 Look in event viewer, see what that says.

Are you using the latest official Nvidia drivers from the Nvidia site? And directx 9.0c?

343460 2005-04-11 02:21:00 Have you checked out the games' websites to see whether similar problems have been reported or patches issued? FoxyMX (5)
