343417 2005-04-10 09:43:00 Hi...I need to make an image of my c:\ drive and have been looking at Acronis. If you are using it please let me know how you like it

Did you download it with a 56k connection and is there a way to verify the file to make sure it hasn't got broken in the downloading.

Any comments much appreciated. Cheers Ken.

I've looked around Acronis website and I can't see what mechanism they provide for downloading and verifying your purchase. Most companies have their own download manager that you use to ensure the product download can continue if broken. I see you have 30 days to complete your download and that you can buy a backup CD of the program which can be posted out. If you are keen on this program (it is certainly cheaper than others), then email your questions to them.

I see that DSE have Acronis 7.0 available on clearance sale in certain locations - see here (www.dse.co.nz).

They also stock the latest version 8.0 as well - see here (www.dse.co.nz)

For your own piece of mind you might like to buy from a store rather than download the product if you are on dialup.

Can't comment of the products ease of use or anything, but if you have a google you should be able to find some reviews. Hopefully someone with personal experience with this product might be able to comment as well. :)

Very user friendly, although the time it takes to restore a full OS partition is prob the same time it takes to do a normal install anyway.

Really? Takes 9 minutes for Ghost.

343422 2005-04-12 02:58:00 Yeah, unfortunately... Mind you, I was restoring from my Sony DRU500A drive with a DVD-R... 4 gb worth of data.

Part of the reason I gave up on the product was that it was no faster than doing a clean install in any instance.

Lo.
