How do I fix this without formatting PC My email address is [edit: email addy removed]. if you are able to help. [edit: It is not a good idea to post your email address on the internet, as it will only lead to spambots picking it up and that account being spammed. You can use the Private Message function of this forum if you wish instead - Jen (Moderator) ] |

2005-04-10 08:51:00 | Wow, a lot of people that use Windows ME posting lately. Have you checked the folder C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer?

2005-04-10 08:59:00 | IE won't show up in Add/Remove programmes, you have to click on Add/Remove Windows components ... which is on the right hand side of Add/Remove programmes (well it is in XP anyway). Also, I have a CD with Win 9x, ME service pack and IE upgrade. However, I'm not sure if it just an upgrade to an existing IE (which has disappeared from your drive), or the full version. I'm picking its just the upgrade Depending on if you want me to send it to you, you will get an email in your hotmail box. PM me or post here, yea or nay :) Otherwise, I would recommend moving UP to Firefox

2005-04-10 09:06:00 | Do a search for "iexplore" on your system, the hard drive that has your main OS on it. If you find it make a shortcut to the desktop. | zqwerty (97) | |
2005-04-11 09:45:00 | 1) Thanks Jen, being a beginner, how do I do that? Would appreciate some instructions. 2) Thanks Prescott, will think about it first. 3) Thanks Sal and Zqwerty. no luck there. 4) Thanks Mythix, no luck there either, have all the current applications on hand. Downloded latest but somehow it stops at about 90-95% download. Friend's PC does have IE in the add/remove program. Something must be clashing in the system, so I have no clue to what is happening. Might have to have the PC formatted.

2005-04-11 11:29:00 | So if you have it on hand, you are talking about when you are reinstalling/repairing IE, it stalls at 90-95%? | sal (67) | |
2005-04-12 10:25:00 | Sal, yes IE6 and IE6 SP1 install stalls at about 90-95 percent and will not complete installation, somehow I think that IE5.5 is sitting on top of IE6 and that is the problem. I have lost a couple of little functions that IE6 that IE5.5 does not have. | nickitwo (2885) | |
2005-04-12 11:11:00 | You might want to go through the Repair IE6 (support.microsoft.com) motions. It's a bit hard to follow but if you have problems following it just post back here. | sal (67) | |
2005-04-13 10:28:00 | Went to IR repair in google, there are 15,000,000 sites for that subject, I do not think I will be able to look at a fraction of what is available. I think it may be quicker to have PC formatted, I appreciate your help. | nickitwo (2885) | |
