| 342986 | 2005-04-09 03:09:00 | First, I would make the newer drive the master in your setup, the older Asus can be the slave. On the drive (at the back) are some jumpers that can be set as Master (MA), slave (SL) and cable select (CS). Set the DVD drive as master, and the other one as slave; as mentioned before. Don't worry about the CS. In your computer, the existing drive will be connected to a cable with one end connected to the mobo, the other end in your drive. This cable should have 3 connectors (1 for the mobo at one end, 1 for the slave which is in the middle of the cable, and 1 more conector at the other end, for the master drive). If this cable only has 2 connections, you need to get to a comp shop to get a new cable with 3 connectors. |
