All devices plugged into a jackpoint (except the router) need a filter. Phones, fax machines etc. There is a filter with 2 sockets, that is used if you only have 1 jackpoint and need the router to share it with a phone. The socket marked ADSL is for the router and the other is for the phone. The filters filter out the high frequency that the router uses for ADSL, so the double filter in effect is split into 2 - allowing one side to be filtered and the other not. The socket is different anyway, its obvious which part the phone plugs into. Clear? |
