343352 2005-04-10 07:13:00 Greetings PressF1, I am currently having problem entering some folders. I've set up only one account in my Xp home edition, that is "Kan's Family Member", which is also the administrator account. I tried to explore a folder named "Documents" under the folder "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users", but access was denied (www.geocities.com) . Can someone please enlighten me on this issue? Thanks and Cheers :) Renmoo (66)

Did you follow this exactly?:
Turn off Simple File Sharing:
a. Click Start, and then click My Computer.
b. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options, and then click the View tab.
c. Under Advanced Settings, click to clear the Use simple file sharing (Recommended) check box, and then click OK.
2. Right-click the folder that you want to take ownership of, and then click Properties.
3. Click the Security tab, and then click OK on the Security message, if one appears.
4. Click Advanced, and then click the Owner tab.
5. In the Name list, click your user name, Administrator if you are logged in as Administrator, or click the Administrators group.

If you want to take ownership of the contents of that folder, click to select the Replace owner on subcontainers and objects check box.
6. Click OK.

343356 2005-04-10 08:12:00 When you right click on the folder, part way down that menu is/should be a heading 'Sharing and Security' Myth (110)
343357 2005-04-10 12:11:00 If anything it probably doesn't like that hideous skin.

Simple permissions problem. Administrator will probably have to take ownership.

I am stuck on step "c", click here (www.geocities.com) to check that out. Either I am too old or my spectacle are outdated or I am just plain stupid. Cheers :)

Err that isnt the simple file sharing option.

Use simple file sharing (recommended) is meant to be on the pic right bottom under show pop-up description for folder and desktop items.

And it looks like Simple file sharing isnt there on his.

And if it isnt formatted in NTFS, u wont have the options for permissions.

And if u haven't got the simple file sharing option, you wont get it.

Coz he's not using XP Pro.
