343364 2005-04-10 05:48:00 I have a file named: cdrivebackup.nri
identified as a Nero CD-Rom (ISO) file.
Is this a backup of the customers c drive or an image to create a cd from?
Could someone please explain this in simple terms for me.
Many thanks

343365 2005-04-10 05:56:00 As its says its a Nero file.

NRI is like an iso file, so you'll need Nero / Nero Express to extract it to a blank cd. It extracts whatever is in that iso / NRI file onto a cd, so it can be used.

343366 2005-04-10 06:08:00 Thank you - very clear.
Final clarification:
If I burn this nri file to a cd, am I or am I not burning the files that make up the .nri file?
or do I need to double click on the .nri file to start the burning to cd session?
Background: someone has this cdrivebackup.nri file on a cd-rw.
Everytime they put the cd in & open nero, nero reads it & states there are some updates & they continue to "burn" the updates assuming that they are backing up all their data in My Documents. But, when they put the cd in without nero open & they browse it all they see is the cdrivebackup.nri file.
If their computer would bomb, would this cdrivebackup.nri file & nero be used to restore their data?

Thank you again

343367 2005-04-10 06:27:00 Yup thats right if u use Nero Express it should extract it to another cd . (I'm pretty sure its similar to an iso file .

(The NRI option appears in Nero Express, under Disk Image or saved project) .

And it says a cd-rom (ISO) compilation .

I think you're talking about creating a data cd which uses multisession (this way u can add more files to whatever is on the cd already) . Not too sure why this NRI file is on cd, it should, or may have been better extracting it to a hard drive . Someone's getting confused, on what option to use .

Since in order to see it again, it'll have to be extracted onto CD, to see whats on it .

I dont think a NRI file is the same as a multisession cd in Nero . Theyre different .

If you select data disk thru Nero Express, add the files u want on the cd, and tick multisession, you SHOULD be able to see whats on it without Nero, when u open My computer / Windows Explorer .

I dont use Nero to back up myself . BUT I use Nero for other things, making audio cd's . dvd's etc .

I just store updates on a spare partition on the hdd, and format when I have to . Then install the updates after .

343368 2005-04-10 07:40:00 I find this program very useful for all CD related problems, don't know if it will help you but I find I am continuously surprised by what I find I can do with the program:

343369 2005-04-22 02:10:00 I have decided that this was not a true back up of the customers data and have advised them to convert of DVD or external hdd for back up method.

Thank you for your help on this issue.
