343304 2005-04-09 21:43:00 does anyone think that the cooling fans for hard drives, the ones that are two small fans attached to a metal bracket and it plugs into the hard drives power cord, might have any detremental affect on that hard drive? For any reason at all, maybe the extra electrical noise in the drives power line, or even the small magnetic force created by the fans right next to the drive casing, ANYTHING???

see, i was woundering because a friend gave one (hard drive cooling fan, the kind with two little fans) to me and i thought i could repostion it to cool my video card. futhermore, he got rid of it because he thought it might have been a partial cause of his hard drive slowly deteriorating.

so please any thoughts at all would been very much appreciated.

343307 2005-04-09 21:53:00 Tell your friend that all hard drives gradually deteriorate, they are a mechanical device which will wear.
As far as the fan being the cause of it..... doubt it
