343290 2005-04-09 20:19:00 I've been offered Firetrust Benign as a program that will totally guard my e-mail from viruses, worms, slugs and snails, you name it! Does anyone out there have experience of this and is it as good as it claims? tylden (4262)
343291 2005-04-09 20:55:00 While I have never heard of it before reading your post, after doing a bit of research it looks interesting. I like the fact that it is developed here in godszone. Having read a few reveiws on it it looks good, If you are running XP with SP2, you will have to download a hotfix from microsoft to allow it to work, overall the reveiws were glowing, google firetrust benign reveiw to read the reveiws, if running XP SP2, have a look at the FAQ page on their website www.firetrust.com robinm (7292)
343292 2005-04-09 21:37:00 I've just been reading up on Firetrust Benign as well (same developer as the well known Mailwasher program) and their program certainly looks interesting. It only protects your machine against infected emails and is meant to supplement your existing Antivirus program - not replace it. Basically it recodes your incoming emails and strips out any virus like code/scripts, tracking images (web bugs) etc and then delivers the sanitised email into your inbox looking like the original email did.

The program will not stop nor detect viruses acquired via other means (eg internet, shared files etc) so you must keep running a full AV program.
