344705 2005-04-14 01:25:00 Hi there!
Printer stopped to respond in the middle of printing. It does work on other PC.
Scanner on daisy chain with it likewise.
Chacked all connections, even removed mother board to look for cold solderings. All looks ok. Created new port as well.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

344706 2005-04-14 01:33:00 Check the BIOS see what the LPT port is on.

I would get a USB printer or scanner.

The parallel scanners are pretty ancient now.

344707 2005-04-14 01:40:00 The bios should say ECP+SPP for the parallel port (LPT1).
Maybe reinstall the driver as well?

I still use a parallel printer as I have yet to find a nice new USB one that will do 840 pages off a black cartridge.

344708 2005-04-14 01:42:00 Does the scanner still work? It (or its power brick) might have died.;) Does the scanner need to powered up for the printer to work? The printer socket on it should be directly connected to the input one, but ... I'd try using the printer connected directly to the computer port. Graham L (2)

Is there a ECP+EPP option under LPT?? If so, change it to this.

344710 2005-04-14 08:36:00 Scanner not working, but this is not important at the moment. I have set in BIOS Parallel port to ECP/EPP mode, but no luck. My printer is S6300 with sockets for parallel and USB. Will have to get USB cable.
And the sis was ok before!
When tried scanner, got error message 000708000 or something
and once printer sturted to spit out empty pages.

May be there is something in registry?

344711 2005-04-14 08:39:00 Tried reinstall driver from CD, but it said that there is more recent driver and from CD would not install. Tried to find that another driver, but can't see it!!! taly (5956)
344712 2005-04-14 08:41:00 I wouldnt play around with the registry, if u dont know what youre doing .

It'll be safer getting a USB cable . If the printer supports USB2 and your USB ports are USB2, get a USB 2 cable .

And then put the scanner in by itself into the paralell port .

344713 2005-04-14 11:28:00 Hi Gonzales!
Not going into registry and will get USB cable.
I opened device manager and it don't show printer, but does show everything else.
Opening printers and faxes at control panel does show printer.
Strange?

344714 2005-04-14 11:33:00 The printer may still be in device manager but under a group with a yellow question mark called Other Devices. Overdrive_5000 (4950)
