Yes, it happens everytime I boot up, and I have already tried that, but it doesn't seem to work. Explorer is counted as running, but isn't actually "there"

344435 2005-04-14 05:46:00 This time when I tried to run explorer.exe mpldfg.exe box of doom popped up

Oh, this may be the cursed mpldfg.exe coming back again, but unfortuantly, I would have no way of stopping it, being without a means to install the annoyances.org fix for it. Know any other ways to stop it?

344436 2005-04-14 05:50:00 If you have set a checkpoint under system restore before installing MSN Messenger, try undo to see if the new version of messenger is the culprit. Otherwise, have you been messing around with registry? That happened to me and now I couldn't install SP2 because of the certain changes that I made towards registry, in which explorer.exe wouldn't startup after installation of SP2. Cheers :) Renmoo (66)
344437 2005-04-14 06:14:00 Well, if you could tell me how to access System Restore in my crippled state, it would be much appreciated .

And yes, I had run Spyhunter a while before (can't remember if it was a reboot before this happened or not) and deleted some vicious registry entries . . . I hope that wasn't it . . .

I can't really re-install Windows at the moment, because I don't have a floppy drive, and Windows Install doesn't recognize my SATA drives . Plus, they didn't give me the drivers when I got my PC . Well, it might be on the motherboard disc .

Thanks

344438 2005-04-14 06:24:00 If u have 2 SATA's and u want to set them up as raid, then you have to install the drivers for them before u install XP .

Thats if the SATA is onboard .

The XP CD is bootable, you dont need a floppy . BUT u do need a floppy to extract the SATA drivers from the mobo cd, if u have it .

Might not be spyware it might be a trojan .

Press Ctrl + Alt + Del, then go to File and click New Task (Run)... and type this in: %SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe . This will launch up system restore. Cheers :)

Argh, I can't run it because the Mpldfg.exe virus thing is stopping me from starting .exe's... :dogeye:
