344293 2005-04-12 22:51:00 Using Netscape 7.2 the website linked below crashes my browser within about 2 seconds of it starting to display. I've been to the site previously without this problem.

Can others please check it and report if anything happens? (it is a reputable site, unless it's been hijacked)

344294 2005-04-12 23:09:00 The site works fine for me, there is extensive use of Java in the tutorial so that may be the cause of your proble. If you turn java off you could confirm. Safari (3993)
344295 2005-04-12 23:26:00 Yup works fine here with the beta of Opera 8 Speedy Gonzales (78)
344296 2005-04-12 23:32:00 Firefox 1.0.2, no probs here, I also suspect the java app triggering a problem on your end. sal (67)
344297 2005-04-13 00:01:00 Much loved IE 5.5 no problems at all.

344298 2005-04-13 02:19:00 Hmmmm - tried the site with javascript disabled, and it crashed. And weirdly, tried it with IE6 and it also crashed! :dogeye:

Problem must be this side - done various anti-virus and spyware checks but all clean.

Strange stuff. grrr

344299 2005-04-13 02:22:00 Have you got the Sun Java system, or have you got the "improved" version from MS? Graham L (2)

MS here.

But... the oddest thing is other issues that have become apparent at the same time. eg have to re-log in almost every time I visit forums, despite having appropriate cookie settings; Netscape opens in the wrong setting when I open it; no longer get my usual email notifications.

Time for a re-format methinks. Bah :dogeye: :(

You need to disable java, not javascript, to test if it is the java application tripping your browsers up. Or you could just download the latest version of java (java.com) (about 15gb).

Thx Sal, (and Safari) you seem to have got it right. I uninstalled Java and the page loads fine now (sans the java of course). I'll download the latest and reinstall.

Cheerz.
