2005-04-16 04:43:00 | Depends on your O/S. I found tons of sites when I googled for it: members.driverguide.com www.modem-drivers.com www.driverfiles.net list.driverguide.com etc etc

2005-04-16 06:08:00 | Thanks for the time you put into looking up the modem sites. I couldn't find the exact driver and had downloaded and tried a couple without success. How do I load the driver? I am using a different Modem [Lucent] at present. I expect I will delete the present drivers, exchange modems in the computer. The next part is where I get lost. XP picks up the new modem - do I direct the driver wizard to the file that has been created when I unzipped the driver file? There doesn't appear to be any .exe file in the unzipped modem driver file. Thanks Doug

2005-04-16 06:14:00 | If XP detects the modem but doesnt install the driver . Once u install whatever modem . Try going to the modem entry in device manager in XP, double click on it / driver tab, update driver, select no not this time / next, (might be a few more times u click on Next), and then point to the folder u unzipped the file to . It SHOULD let u install it from here . The folder the zip file created, may have an inf file in it , this is what XP will look for . Or do the same, as above . After u install the modem, boot up the computer . As soon as XP detects the new modem, and brings up the wizard .

2005-04-16 20:49:00 | Paul You are right of course. I hope to purchase a computer from work for my brother. The work computer doesn't have a modem. I brought the recent model PCI modem off Trademe, but it didn't come with a install disk. I am trying to prepare for when the computer comes available. And unforunately I like to have a go at things and the small challenge of getting it to work. All a bit of a worry really. Thanks Doug

2005-04-16 21:54:00 | If the I56PSP - F40 is for your brother, that's OK ;) Conexant have absorbed the PCTel modem chipset business and supply a generic driver for the PCTel 1789 chipset here conexant.com
