345449 2005-04-15 17:27:00 Recently my Computer has been having trouble it will restart out of nowhere and say I need a bios update to contact my manufacture etc..

Here is my situation I use SiSoftware Sandra to see which kind of motherboard and model # I have and it says I have a Diamond Flower and Model # is 761-686B

Im not sure if that is correct because when I search their site for bios updates for my motherboard I cant even find the model # so how do I know which bios I need to update..

Basically I just need to know WHICH kind of bios i need to update on my motherboard I have a great guide ( www.pcstats.com ) but just cant seem to find the right bios (and really dont want to mess anything up too badly)

To find out what BIOS you have, boot up your computer and hold the Pause key when you reach the first black screen - the BIOS version will show either on the bottom or top of the screen - it'll usually begin with Award or AMI

345453 2005-04-15 20:37:00 pretty drastic for a reboot problem.

have you done a ram test (mem86)
have you checked device manager
also what os are you using

Greg I think us Kiwis are not allowed to sleep (I know we only come out at night and eat ........................... :D) I think this person is in another time zone or at the very least another zone now looking at the timing of their posts

Take the lid off. On the MB will be printed its model number. Use that.

345458 2005-04-15 21:05:00 To do a ram test google memtest86 and go for the first link on the top of the page, first read the instructions on the download site.

Personally flashing your BOIS is the very last resort as if anything goes wrong you are looking at the purchase of a new mother board at the least.

Not meaning to be nasty, if you have to ask how to test RAM, Keep away from the flashing the BIOS
