| 344981 | 2005-04-15 01:08:00 | Dell Dimension 2400 running XP After logon first access of "my computer" results in long delay (2 to 3 mins) with waving torch icon before drives are found. Microsoft Knowledge Base article No. 819017 identifies fault as either activation of Windows Image Aquisition (WIA), use of 2 particular modems, or use of 2 particular HP Scanjets. Deactivating WIA does not fix problem and I do not use any of the named modems or Scanjets. HOWEVER, I do have an HP PSC 1210 Printer/Scanner and disconnecting this from its USB port before start-up solves the problem. Does anyone have a fix that does not require me to keep on unplugging the printer? |
