| 344903 | 2005-04-15 08:28:00 | It's not necessarilly an Instalshield error, it could be MSI (MS WIndows Installer) or poor coding conflicting with something on your system. Do a search of the MS website for MSI Zap or MSI Cleanup and while your there do a bit of research on Windows Installer (support.microsoft.com) issues and versions. Installshield/installer issues can be a real sod to diagnose, there's so many factors involved including little quirks in your own system configuration. Anyway, have a look through the Instashield troublshooting guides (consumer.installshield.com). The most common fix is to delete the Installshield engine in C: \Program Files\Common Files\Installshield, it builds again after a reboot, but I'm not sure that's going to help you with this particular issue as I suspect a Windows or program/program installation error. |

| 344905 | 2005-04-15 13:02:00 | Does this program use DemoShield or Packager for the Web (both Installshield app's, Packager is the red box with the lids that pop open). I've had experience where these app's leave bits around, especially if they don't execute properly first time around. It can be an absolute sod to track, every system has it's differences. I did some research a while back on the Installshield site and in the developers forum. There are definitely bugs that crop up in Installshield (some un-adressed ones, mine for eg), but there can also be bugs in the packaging of files and implementaion of Installshield by the software developer/vendor/distributor and then bugs in Windows and bugs in the way the bugs developer/vendor/distributor interacts with Windows or, a combo of the former. Makes you wonder how anything gets installed at all, but most errors are handled, yours isn't or not to your advantage anyway. Do a search for 1924 and that .dll file mentioned in the error details. Clean everything out, everything (back up first). You will have to be prepared to look at this on multiple fronts; Installshield, software and Windows system files. Get any cleanup tool you can from Instashield and MS. Check Add/Remove Programs for Installer packages that apparently do nothing and software that you didn't know you had or thought had failed to install or unintall and visa versa. Don't delete anything without confirming it's unwanted and unnecessary or faulty. You could end up (re)installing much more than you want to at this time. |

| 344906 | 2005-04-15 21:44:00 | Thx alot for trying to help me, i really dont know much about computers so do you mean with clean everything out that i should reinstall whole windows? because this is just a patch but when i try to remove or repair the whole game it self i get the same error, and your saying MS but i dont really know what that is or what you mean with it like i said before i dont know anything about computers >.< anyway thx for your time | RoughDividE (7893) | ||
| 344907 | 2005-04-16 02:11:00 | Thx alot for trying to help me, i really dont know much about computers so do you mean with clean everything out that i should reinstall whole windows? No, I mean clean out all temporary files, clean the registry, follow the Installshield instructions for refreshing (deleting: C / Common Files/Installshield/6-7-whatever folder is applicable on your system) the use MSI Zap to kill any left over files or processes from a previous failed install/uninstall, which I guess is causing the problem . Which user did you carry out the original installation, Administrater, User/you name? because this is just a patch but when i try to remove or repair the whole game it self i get the same error, and your saying MS but i dont really know what that is or what you mean with it like i said before i dont know anything about computers > . < anyway thx for your time Have a look at this FAQ ( . pcworld . co . nz/faq . php?faq=faq_pressf1_root#faq_new_faq_item_101" target="_blank">pressf1 . pcworld . co . nz) and this one here ( . pcworld . co . nz/faq . php?faq=pressf1_faq_pcbasics#faq_pressf1_faq_1" target="_blank">pressf1 . pcworld . co . nz 5) . In the meantime I'll do a bit of a search . It also may be helpful to submit your error and screen shots to the Installshield Consumer and Priston websites . |
