2005-04-27 19:53:00 | I have xp, but this problem has nothing to do with my OS or the camera, the camera works, it records, I have no promlem when I use Window's Movie Maker and and capture from the device, everything works just fine there . It's a webcam btw Mercury . The problem lies that when I open up the camera and select "Capture" It asks me where I want the file to go . . . my documents . . . the name of the file, whatever I want, and then it records, then you hit stop capture and your done, the file is created in my documents under whatever it is I named it . Ok, I just did this recorded a short clip . When you hover your mouse over a file, it will say the type of file and the size, date modified and some other things sometimes . Anywyas, over this file it just says Type : File . If I make it an mpg or something that I have winamp default to play the type goes to winamp media file . Excel worksheets say Mircrosoft Excel Worsheet for the type . This one just says "File" So I right click it and go to properties . The first thing on the general tab is Type of file : File, and then it says desription : the name of the file . Normally it would say opens with and then say what program will open the file but it doesn't, but under the files that I created with this webcam it doesn't say that . Yeah Mythix that is me, but there seems to be more traffic here and I was looking for some help as nothing I was getting there was helping and it looked slower so I posted problem here . There is no extension to these files, if I add one it doesn't matter nothing will play them still . I dont know what's wrong, the information is there, I know this because of the size of the file, just I think it's the raw data or something, I don't know really, but I cannot play these files for anything . Just hoping to see if anyone has any info or any idea or could help in any way . If someone has the camera on their laptop try it, go start, programs, and there is a folder Bs350u2 with a program Bs350u2 open it up and capture some video and then look at the file .

2005-04-27 22:15:00 | The reason I was asking brand/model of camera was to do a google search and see if there is a manual, helpdesk or screen shots around. If you open "Camera" is there a menu? Can you set preferences somewhere to save a capture in a specific format? Is there a second step somewhere to take raw footage and convert it into a different format? Is there another program on the installation disk that needs to be installed?

2005-04-27 23:53:00 | I looked on Google, and there is a detailed setup for this in a .pdf file. No doubt you have already researched it, given there are only 3 hits for that camera, including this thread. Looks like you may be able to set the video format, in the screen shot it is set to "none". support.ajp.co.uk

2005-04-30 22:15:00 | Yeah, but in the screen shot the "none" looks like it can't be changed and my options menu is a bit different than that, it doesn't even have the box. | Yaminn (7906) | |
2005-05-01 01:01:00 | Can you update your drivers? | Mercury (1316) | |
2005-05-01 01:28:00 | It asks me where I want the file to go... my documents... the name of the file, whatever I want, and then it records, then you hit stop capture and your done, the file is created in my documents under whatever it is I named it. When it asks for a name etc, does it also give you an option of what extension you want it saved to (i.e save as blah.wmi etc..) or do you have to give it an extension? Next time, try giving it the name blah.mpeg or blah.whatever; and leave the extension field as is. Might work
