I've never heard of a PC asking for an update....Have you done all the usual, spyware/virus checks, reset the BIOS to defaults, checked if its overheating, checked PSU is OK, checked RAM?

345460 2005-04-15 22:28:00 As far as your mother board model # is concerned download ..
Everest here (www.lavalys.com)

Run this and it will tell you what mobo you have.

Firstly however, do as pctek said and run Spybot, AdAware etc. It is unusual for a BIOS to say 'hey I want updating' like this.

Someone mentioned BIOS makers... in addition to the two he said there is also Phoenix (who now own Award or vice versa but still code BIOS)

345461 2005-04-15 22:45:00 i assme your mobo is based on the 761 chipset. these are known to be somewhat touchy with poor power supplys.
also check things like cpu and case temps. (dirty heatsink?)

i doubt upgradeing bios will help.

is there anything you did before it started crashing?

345462 2005-04-15 23:54:00 Okay I updated my motherboards bios I did find the correct model # on the site that was on my motherboard when I opened it up and I cleaned a crap load of dust out of the fans etc so its really cooled down.

I will check my RAM but everything is running fine it seems now havent got any errors.

I think what messed it up was I ran HijackThis and cleared everything that was an error so that must of messed something up..
