345375 2005-04-15 13:35:00 Help...

Downloaded and burnt the DVD image. Booted from the DVD ok. Everything going fine...

And then it gets to the point where you select where you're going to install it from. I pick CD-ROM, and I wait. It pops up and says it can't find the media.

And that's as far as I've gotten so far...

345376 2005-04-15 14:49:00 After downloading the image, did you check that the image was alright? To check the integrity of the download you need to calculate the md5sum and then compare it to see if it is the same. This page (fedora.redhat.com) gives you the sums.

If you don't have a running linux system check this page (www.openoffice.org) for a link to the exe file and an explanation about md5sum.

345377 2005-04-19 09:10:00 Well...

After a lot of Google-time (and coffee), it appears that there are 'known issues' when trying to install from the DVD media. The integrity of the actual disk is fine - it has written correctly, just appears not to work...

Solution: download the 4-disk CD-Rom version - Probelm solved..

345378 2005-04-19 09:34:00 Did you find out if it was related to DVD drive issues or was it more random with whom it affected? I installed Fedora Core 3 off DVD media with no problems at all. Jen (38)
345379 2005-04-19 10:20:00 No, couldn't tell if it was it was related to specific drives, or anything else. But there were enough examples on various forums, where the problem was described EXACTLY the same.

Go figure....

345380 2005-04-20 01:20:00 Australian PC put Fedora 3 on their cover DVD. I think their installation procedure started with making 3 CDs from the DVD. ;) Graham L (2)
