345067 2005-04-15 05:55:00 Hello everyone

I'm just trying to find out if anyone else has the same problem as me with the D-Link DSL-200 adsl modem only being able to connect through dial-up connections. Is that normal? Is there a way to set it up over LAN in order to connect automatically to the internet? If anyone can help, please let me know.

Thanks

345069 2005-04-15 06:03:00 Thanks, but it didn't really help me. I've checked through anything I could find there. Hey, there might not be away, but I thought maybe someone out there does know how to do it! nat (7902)

Well you didnt read the manual properly then. If you read it, its says using the WAN connection gives you the "dial-up" type connection. Useing the LAN connection is the one you want. RTFM. ;)

345071 2005-04-15 06:14:00 Sorry, this could have been the problem. I forgot to mention that I have revision A. I'm about to go double check the site again just in case I missed something anyway. nat (7902)
345072 2005-04-15 06:17:00 OK< what happens if you go into the router via its IP address?
If you can do that, jsut enter your username/password in here, ake sure its got the right settings for NZ ADSL and use it that way.

345074 2005-04-15 06:32:00 Just had a quick browse through the Quick install guide, it only has instructions for Dial up.
You could place a shortcut to the dial up in the Startup, or multiple other ways. Just check that it dials automatically, ie. no prompts.

If you open a command prompt. Type ipconfig, it tells you the assigned IP address of your PC, subnet and gateway. The gateway is your routers builtin IP Address.
Open your browser and type that ip address in the URL window and hopefully it allows you to connect direct to your router.
And view/chnage settings etc.
