2005-04-17 06:51:00 | I have just managed to enable wep encryption on my wireless router and Asus Laptop running XP Pro. Fine and dandy. However, now I can't find anywhere to put in the key to allow our win 98se PC to connect. Anyone got a clue? Cause I don't. Regards, Rob

2005-04-17 08:36:00 | Did the router come with anything for 98 and under?? Some kind of program? Yer it'll be easier with XP / SP2 since its got something for wireless . I would check the manufacturer of the modem's site, and see whats on their site for 98 . It may or may not work / be compat with 98 or under .

2005-04-17 10:25:00 | Just checked the book and win98se is supported but I will have to bring the Comp to the router and connect using the ethernet cable and see if I can sort it. Watch this space.

2005-04-20 12:40:00 | Well I finally bought the computer to the router and guess what? I still can't get it to connect. I will keep working on it but I am fast coming to the conclusion that it is a hopeless case. Of course I would have looked a lot smarter if I had checked that the wireless ethernet card had a ethernet port on it before I dismantled the computer and carried it all up to the router. :badpc:

2005-04-20 22:31:00 | does the router let you enable mac addresses, might not be as good as wep but it is something? Yes, I beleive it does but I have already set up wep for compatibility with my notebook. Anyway, hopefully it is academic as we have bought a note book for Mrs theother1 and are just awaiting delivery. It is a bit of a hassle at present as we are both trying to use the one computer to access the net. Cheers people, Thanks for your assistance. Rob
