345808 2005-04-16 19:50:00 Welcome to PressF1, helpplease. Don't worry, help is available here. What's the reason of getting another CPU? Is it that you want to replace your current P4? Get a 64-bit CPU if you can afford it. Cheers :) Renmoo (66)
345809 2005-04-16 20:12:00 Your current CPU is a Intel, the one you are wanting in the screenshot is a AMD. You cannot put a AMD in a Intel CPU motherboard. If you wish to change to a AMD then you will need to get a new motherboard. Your current motherboard will also have a CPU speed limitation to how high you can go with another Intel CPU. The motherboard manual should provide this information. You need to sort out these details first before deciding what CPU to use. :) Jen (38)
345810 2005-04-16 20:45:00 yeah im asking , i allready gettin a new mobo, with the cpu i have ordered...

its a
ASUS K8N, nForce3 250, Socket-754, ATX ,SATA/ATA, LAN, DDR, Sound, AGP8x

i ordered, the CPU which i was tlkaing about the (amd), 1Gb of cruticle RAM, and the Mobo above, but some of my specs, on my current CPU are better than the one i have ordered, my friends insist the one i am getting is 10x better than my current one, but im just confused becuase soem specs on my current one r higher than the one i have ordered.

345811 2005-04-16 21:11:00 When you are talking about the differences between AMD and Intel, you cant really compare them these days. They are different in quite a few ways, even cpu speeds aren't measured the same (AMD double clocks, Intel quad) but then AMD offset that by something that Intel doesn't have..... so its 6 of one and half a dozen of the other... In the end, its personal choice.

Im picking your friends all have AMD

I use Intel

Hi Helpplease,

Hopefully the CPU that you have outlined on your page (img122.echo.cx) isn't the one you have ordered as it is an old 462 pin Socket A which won't work

If you are looking at buying a CPU that is compatible with your motherboard you will need a Sempron 754 pin CPU like this one advertised on Ascent. (www.ascent.co.nz)

If you have ordered the Sempron 2500, I would suggest that you cancel and order the correct CPU. ;)

345813 2005-04-17 10:39:00 What ?

These are the things i am ordering?

Corsair (VS1GBKIT400C3) 1024MB (2 x 512MB Matched Pair), DDR400 / PC3200, non-ECC, Unbuffered, CL3, Memory Modules

AMD Sempron 2500+ (SDA2500BOX) Processor Skt A 256KB Cache FSB333

Asus K8N Socket-754 nForce3 ATA - Sound Lan IEEE1394 USB2 800FSB SATA

Are these things all compatible ?

All i was asking is, which CPU is better my old one whihc i have now, or the one i am ordering above ?

the specs of each CPU are listed are : - . echo . cx/img122/3926/untitled8ol . jpg" target="_blank">img122 . echo . cx

345814 2005-04-17 10:47:00 Nope, the AMD sempron you are ordering will not work. It is a socket A, whereas the board uses socket 754 Edward (31)
345815 2005-04-17 11:00:00 right let me get this straight, the 3 things i am ordering - 2 of them the CPU & Mobo, are not compatible, right ?

after reading into my mobo, it says it has sempron processor support ?

you can check each product here : -

a heap of junk if you are going to use this for games. if you really wanna stay with AMD, get a AMD64
