346003 2005-04-18 00:16:00 Same here I 've got an Asus FX5200 128mb card in this pc.

It works with Doom3. So, cant be that bad.

Well if its a Nvidia based card, I cant see why it cant use nvidia drivers.

346004 2005-04-18 01:47:00 I thought the Toshiba drivers helped it to work with the power saving settings etc. Scaled it down when it wasnt needed so much or something? mejobloggs (264)
346005 2005-04-18 03:16:00 I wouldnt have a clue about Toshiba. Never had anything toshiba.

BUT you'll never find out if u dont install the Nvidia drivers to find out.

346006 2005-04-18 03:37:00 Just wondering . Did you try to overclock your laptop? You can actually overclock that laptop I believe due to it having a Pentium M cpu and not being so locked down as compared to IBM's, Dell's and HP laptops . If you overclocked it, then that will be causing the issue .

Also, you could have a stuffed piece of RAM, or HDD issue, even maybe motherboard issue, haha . Do you have 2x512 sticks? Try taking out one stick and running on just 512 and see if it crashes, if it does try the other stick . Also try both slots . I'm not too familiar with the Toshiba laptops but most laptops have diagnostic lights when they boot up . Maybe take note of how the lights indicating hdd and memory flash before and after .

Recently just had a brand new HP laptop lock up on me at random times . Ended up being a main board issue that HP is still trying to repair ( the part they need is not in NZ), and refuses to give a new replacement laptop seeing the laptop is 5 weeks old and is out of their 1 month replace gurantee . But anyway, hope trying those things may help .

346007 2005-04-18 03:42:00 before you go to far.......check the basic's as mentioned before.

turn off any unneeded crap, give it a virus scan, spyware scan etc (in safe mode) to start with before you go down the drivers and hardware route.

also just check the cooling is ok, ie the fan is working, not full of dust etc.

346008 2005-04-18 04:10:00 That's a good idea tweak, I just remembered something. I have a feeling the M30's have cooling fans that are located underneath the laptop. And I have also heard about them crapping out because of over heating, especially if say you use the laptop in bed and it sits on sheets and fabric surfaces.

So definitely check that out. Would explain the random times it freezes.

Else try hardware analysis.

346009 2005-04-18 08:01:00 Yes, has 2x512, but I am not going to be opening it up. There is 1 fan on the left side, unobstructed, not dust clogged. Not overclocked.

Done a virus, ad-aware, spyware scan, only cookies where picked up.
Perhaps run a memory test on it?

How about if I get a demo of that SiSoft Sandra?

And installing nvidia drivers is ok, instead of toshiba/nvidia drivers?
