| 345819 | 2005-04-17 11:46:00 | The CPU is better than your old one but, as has been pointed out it is not compatable with the motherboard you have ordered. Stick with that motherboard, and order a compatable (AMD) CPU. While still available, the socket A CPU, you have odered is basically an obsolete product, AMD produce socket 754 and 939 CPU's with more new sockets coming out shortly. The socket 754 will be for Sempron CPU's only in the near future. |

What you have outlined here is probably a lower performance PC than what you have already . Just looking at the Asus site seems to suggest that the motherboard outlined above may not be compatible with the Sempron . The original motherboard that you mentioned and the Sempron cpu that I linked to in the earlier post should at least give you a better performance . Also the Sempron 3100 would be compatible Far better to spend a little bit more now than waste your money . |
