346591 2005-04-19 03:17:00 i wondered if you can change the order of the programs that load in your system tray when windows loads.... reason is that my cable internet connects before my Zonealarm client starts... and ive had a few spyware get through in these few moments. i also dont want to have to manually connect when i log on either.

im running xp sp2. any help would be greatly appreciated.

346592 2005-04-19 04:09:00 hm.........i'vve seen an app somwhere that allows you to 'order' the startup of apps when windoze is loading but............yoru problem is........that yoru 'cable' modem which is most likely connected thru a network card, (ethernet) is getting connected first because the system connects to any networks well before it gets to windoze.........the only way you can really prevent this is most likely to unplug the phone line goin into your modem..............then after windoze has loaded .......plug it in again..........or............disable the network on shutdown then re-enable it after boot ? drcspy (146)

I have to say that's about the most befuddled response to a question I've ever seen:

Does it ever occur to drcspy tha.........t "full stops" are............ there for a purpose and not........... just to confuse a reader?..........Why does he so deliberately mis-spell words.....?More confusion?..............and the fact that he answers the question..........with........a..........question mark.... I mean............why does he bother?

346594 2005-04-19 05:34:00 ZA dosn't fire up untill the network is up.

ZA runs as a service. the bit you see starting up is only the eyecandy.

what spyware and how do you know it got through ZA?

sorry but everythime i've heard this you will usually find someone downloaded the malware and let it through the firewall.

346595 2005-04-19 05:49:00 I have ZA, it loads slightly after as well. I haven't had any spyware on this PC in ages and ages. SO I doubt its getting in that way. More likely files sharing progs, porn sites or something thats been downloaded. pctek (84)
346596 2005-04-19 06:31:00 gawd .......picky....

anyway the ? at the end was to suggest to the questioner that maybe it was something to take under consideration and make a decision about ?

as for befuddled HUH ! my response did at least give some potential help ! as for my english .......well spelling isn't that much of an importance on here I suggest to you that we are not doin the pitmans typing exam, which by the way I passed with a first class pass some years ago......so there ! (looks for a pokey tounge emoticon.............)

346597 2005-04-19 07:01:00 The system doesn't "connect to any network well before it gets to Windows".

The computer is not a biological entity which can catch a virus from kissing a cable modem. Until the operating system has loaded, and loaded and started its network software, no packets enter the computer.

To get away from the actual subject matter, spelling does matter to a lot of us. There is an inevitable feeling that if people can't or won't try to get spelling correct their opinions on more difficult technical subjects might be not totally reliable. ;) After all, the output from a computer is unlikely to be more accurate than its input. Mispelt input to a compiler gives error messages (in good languages; lesser languages just produce code which is guaranteed to produce wrong output).

I'm sure the Pitman's typing exam had some marks for layout too; after all, business typing is (or used to be) a means of communication. Sentences, paragraphs, punctuation, and conventional spelling all help comprehension.

However, this isn't helping the questioner. ;)

My approach would be to have the antivirus, etc, start automatically, then start a browser (which would only then connect) manually.

346599 2005-04-19 08:01:00 goddam I'm gettin a feeling just like I used to get when *** was hauntin these corridors..............why dont you all take your comments about punctuation/grammer/spelling and .............and ninja I DONT chop words in half....as for the pc 'connecting to a network well before it loads windoze' well what I meant (to perhaps put it a little more accurately) was that as far as I've noticed any network will reconnect pretty early in the startup proceedure. drcspy (146)
346600 2005-04-19 08:11:00 Ninja is ***,didn't you know?

Anyhow, Any elitist arrogant swine is free to consider themselves too good for my advice due to my spelling not meeting their criteria.

Not only idiotic,but blind.
