2005-04-18 09:23:00 | Hey is there a free app that can distribute apps, add icons into users start menus and desktops so that when they run it it installs the prorgam if the client doesnt have the program? Because SMS wont run on the server i want to use for it (its only a P166) and i dont use/like novell products. I have been trying to create my own thing, but its taking a lot longer than i thought, and i need something soon Thanks Daniel

2005-04-18 09:45:00 | Im using Windows 2000/XP clients, and my server is running win2k server. The program that im writing works, but i need it to be able to add menu items and icons and things, but at the mo it cant do that. The main problem is that if i put icons on each users desktop and the program isnt installed then i run into problems.... Daniel

2005-04-19 01:44:00 | So basically you want exactly what Novell does perfectly but not Novell :groan: | ninja (1671) | |
2005-04-19 01:48:00 | All i want is an application distrubuter that can add icons to the desktop, and items to the menu. The only reason i know about Zen is that we use it a school and i hate it. I think SMS would be fine if it worked on a 166mhz computer. And plus i dont use any novell apps, i use 100% MS stuff (SQL,Exchange,Windows,IIS (but not ie, i use ff) etc. Daniel

2005-04-19 01:50:00 | A better option is to install the apps on the Win2K Server, enable T/S and with the login script add a specific application.rdp file to the users desktop. We are using this for our non-standard apps. The user workstations have just the standard MS Apps, AV and SUS updates.
