346520 2005-04-20 14:55:00 No problems doing exactly the same thing in FireFox. zqwerty (97)
346521 2005-04-20 21:31:00 Next problem is that I cannot post in Blogger using Opera, I keep getting an error message when I try to choose the font:

Sorry, I have no idea what "Blogger" is so I can't help with that one. I suggest that you try the Opera forums (my.opera.com); they are very helpful there and will soon put you right.

346522 2005-04-21 23:01:00 Just checked out Opera 8.
Not much difference to the last one. It is still a pain getting graphic/form buttons to line up in a table. If its suits Opera it is wrong for IE & FFox. Can be done but takes a lot of fiddling.

My favourite feature is using "Z" to go back. Very convenient to the left hand. Also, F11 full screen is FULL screen.

I think the default install looks a lot nicer and more convenient than the 7.x versions. Didn't have to do so much customising to get it how I liked it. I have also found it much faster on the old machine - it leaves Firefox for dead.

Could you elaborate on that, perhaps with some examples, including how you fixed it?

346524 2005-04-22 02:17:00 For IE & FFox each graphic button only needs the cell to be "align" centre, middle or top.
To look right in Opera you have to insert <p> before the graphic and use align "top" for the cells. This also looks Ok in the others but the frame has to be slightlly larger.
Have a look at http://www.macma.co.nz. This has been altered to accomodate Opera.

346527 2005-04-22 05:16:00 Yeah I know, I know.. three posts in a row....

Coming to you from Opera 8.

The small 3.7MB download was done in about 20 seconds here at work.

The interface looks quite nice, although scrollbars look VERY "win 95-ish" if you ask me, too square.

Tabs/icons look nice. Interface is nice and clean, similar look to Mepis default theme.

Bummer about the Ads, and I cant easily see where to block images.

Page loading is nice and fast, just as fast as Firefox from a general browsing POV. Faster than IE for sure.

I could use it on a daily basis without worries, but still prefer Firefox so far.

I'll give it a chance and use it for the rest of the day and see if I change my mind :)

Skin it, Chill, skin it . Plenty of choice on the Opera pages . ;)

Toggle images with Shift+I . Unless you are talking about the advert images . . . in which case I can't find where to change that either .
You have a choice between the Google ads which display on a toolbar-sized strip at the top of the page or bigger adverts alongside the toolbars . The Google ads are the most inconspicious .

Only a day? It may take a little longer than that to give it a chance for you to fall in love with it . After all, how can you possibly learn all the tweaks to customise it in just one day?

Don't forget to try out the IRC Chat . ;)
