| 346562 | 2005-04-19 05:51:00 | Strangest thing i've ever seen - I seem to always have some "stupid" or "weird" things happen to my computer but this one seemed to have made the techs (at work) roll into the floor with laughter! I wonder if someone has a remote control to my pc? Maybe I should remove their batteries! Joking!! I'll let the techs figure it out tomorrow! If they find the answer I will definately post it! Thanks! |

| 346563 | 2005-04-22 02:57:00 | I have a friend who has student lodgers, they have computers. They were on the Xtra Jetsream Plus plan for 10gigs During the Xmas break the students were away so there should have been my friend's computer only during this period, and was only doing Email etc. I went to have a look and found one of the Router lights flickering all the time, traced the cable to a locked room and found a computer very busy on line. Switched it off & it powered up again. Checked the log with Xtra and found that 18gig had been used in a week! Checked all the settings etc & found that it had a "greeby" like a dialer in it & the computer was being used as a server. Up & Down traffic were about the same. The first thing to do is unplug it from the internet. Scan with "Lavasoft Addaware" & if it is on XP scan with the new Microsoft Bug scanner. If all else fails, format the drive and reinstall. Before you use it on line again, make an Image file with Ghost, Acronis 8 or PQ Drive Image. You will then be able to reinstall in a few minutes when anything is wrong. |

| 346564 | 2006-12-12 19:59:00 | [FONT=Arial Narrow][FONT=Comic Sans MS]Ok - I have had my computer do some strange stuff - but this is the [I]strangest of all! Around 3 am - heard a strange but familer noise - my computer was booting up! It booted up to the login screen . I shut it down (thinking I must be dreamin . ) Today it continued to boot up by itself 4 more times . I have checked my event viewer - nothing too strange - It does show something called ASP . NET 1 . 1 . 4322 . 0 event id 1076 - which I have never seen before . I have Windows XP - Pro ZoneAlarm firewall Norton 2005 I have done a virus scan - 2 "possible threats . " Which I fixed . It also is saying there is 50 running processes . A week ago I had on the norm only 39 . I checked my msconfig - nothing in my start up has changed and I know what files they are . I'm not sure what other info you may need to know about my pc . Please help! :badpc: Your power pack is on the way out . . replace your PSU (power suppy unit) and it will be fine |

| 346565 | 2006-12-12 22:25:00 | How ironic...I've been watching Poltergeist 1 and 2 for the last two weeks lol. Never heard of PCs turning on by themselves, but the PSU may be the culprit... |
